Reading human emotions is a challenging but essential life skill. In this unit, students photographed their own facial expressions to identify seven key emotions, then cropped and exaggerated one image to produce an edition of Expressionist lino block prints.

Students studied The Renaissance and explored the ways in which art and culture saw a ‘re-birth’ during this period. They studied Dutch Delftware tiles and drew inspiration from the stylistic interpretations of tulips and various corner designs. This is reflected in their own tiles that are based on native Australian flora and painted in the recognisable Delft blue.
